Trance Formed is an ambient work which Warren has described as part of the Machine Language trilogy.

In 1998, Warren told fans that "Nocera Inferiore" is a song he composed for his performance at the September 19, 1997, ceremony honoring him and his family in the Italian town of Nocera Inferiore, which was his father's birthplace. "Nova Express" was released at this site in May 2002 and is available in the Downloads Section. At the time, Warren said, "This is a piece from the soon to be released Trance Formed cd. It was recorded in 1987 while I was living in Sherman Oaks, CA. The title is taken from a William Burroughs book."
