JUST TOUCH
"So, finally a Duran person gets something done quickly, & makes it available to those who care. This 1st installment from me is the last song ever recorded in the studio in London in my Octavia street residence. From the Wedding Album till June 2001, loads & loads of music, DD, TV Mania (coming soon) & countless Cuccurullo solo songs have been put down on tape there. Just Touch is a fun track. I love the bassline & it's full of vocal hooks. It was done in 2, 5 hour sessions, with Mark Tinley programming. I wanted to do a teaser version of it for the website & this is what you're hearing, but now I'm kinda loving having the song be really short & to the point. I played a Parker guitar through a whammy pedal down 1 octave to record the original bass part. I then doubled it with a synth bass. The drum loops & other synth parts were generated with the program Acid. Some of the weirder, spacey guitars were taken straight off of DAT from my voluminous collection of ambient guitar music. The other one is the Parker again, through a DI box, into a whammy/wah pedal. All of the vocals were done by me except the 1st 2 lines of verse 1. I love this song & I hope you derive some pleasure from it as well. BEWARE......SONG WILL REPEAT ENDLESSLY IN YOUR BRAIN FOR HOURS.." -W

PLAYING WITH THE ALIENS
"Discovered this track while going through various digital audio tapes looking for music for the site. It was the 1st piece on that particular tape & I was having a very hard time remembering how & when I created it. Through careful analysis, I realized what I used to make the sounds, & the period it was done. It's from 1998 ,& I was using the Sony GP5 processor for the melody line. That was then going through a separate feed to my Jamman sampler, which then goes through a Whammy 2 pedal. All in glorious MONO. (I stereo-ized it later). I was stepping through the presets on the Whammy2 in real time to get the "chord changes" to happen. The drone underneath, which was the 1st layer of the loop, was me playing through the H3000 SE to get the backwards effect, & looped, of course, by the Jamman. Whew!!! What fun! I really love this one. To me it sounds like aliens playing the blues. You know, your'e sitting in a bar, some music starts up, you look over in the general direction of the sound & there are these "creatures", with strange instruments, just laying back & doing their thing. Do you hear that, MR. LUCAS????!!!!." -W

SEX (IF YOU WANT IT)
"sex... is a percussion piece that I constructed in 1992. I was using 4 different drum macines with the old akai asq 10 sequencer, the only machine I ever bothered to learn for midi recording. ( I used a couple of layers of this groove on 1 of the tracks on The Blue.) The voice over was flown in at a later date. The spoken stuff was originally meant to be used on its own somewhere in the website. I liked the way the female voice saying Sex.... if u want it led into the opening of the track. It was basically just a coincidence that they were running next to each other on my original compilation cd that I put together for the internet audio content. I love it when that happens. So now we have a piece of music that is very simple, quite sexy & u can fuck 2 it. Oh yeah, & you guys voted for this one as well. Good choice!!!" - W

CUT ME FROM THE MIRROR
"This track is a collaboration with Ustad Sultan Khan & Neil Carlill. I had this piece of music that needed lyrics & a melody, & I really wanted Neil (Delicatessan) to write it and sing it. I loved what he came up with & we recorded it one day back in the summer of '98. Sultan Khan loved the chord changes & he came up with some beautiful vocal & sarangi melodies. The final result is a piece that proves to me once again how special it is to share musical ideas with fellow artists, & allow each one to express themselves exactly how they feel. In the end you wind up sitting back in amazement listening to the perfectly blended contributions of each person in something that was assembled in an almost random fashion. Light a candle, lay back & enjoy." -W

THE HOLY MAN'S PLEA
"There's a song on my Trance Formed cd called The Astral Music Box. I played this piece for Ustad Sultan Khan, the sarangi player/vocalist, when we were recording some of the stuff for the Color Blind sessions. He loved it, & had some ideas about doing a vocal track for the first pass, & then using the sarangi to play along to what he had just sung. It turned out incredible. The funny thing is, the guitars were done in 1987, & there we were adding some beautiful new parts to the piece, giving it a new identity, 11 years later. I should mention that Sultan Khan was one of the musicians hired by George Harrison for his Dark Horse tour." -W

MENTAL HOPSCOTCH (Acid Samba Mix) - (Missing Persons)
"Many people will recognize the name Anthony Resta from the work he did with Duran Duran on Thank You & Medazzaland. He's an excellent rhythm man, programmer, producer & all around musician who always manages to breathe new life into all the tracks he gets involved with. This remix is basically a re-recording. The vocal was done by Dale a few years ago, most other parts were either sampled from live tapes that I provided Anthony with or just some stuff that he came up with to achieve what he calls his Acid Samba Mix. It was originally done on spec for the Cleopatra Remixed Hits album. There were some miscommunications between label & management, & the track didn't get used. Well, here it is. Exclusively on musicandsex.tv." - W

HIS MIND INTO HER
"His Mind into Her: this piece is another collaboration with Neil Carlill (Delicatessan). I wrote & recorded the music in 1997 & then Neil contributed the lyric & melody in 1998. As usual, I instantly loved what he came up with. Incidentally, this is the first piece of ambient music I ever did that had words sung over it. I hope you all like it." -W

NOVA EXPRESS
"This is a piece from Trance Formed. It was recorded in 1987 while I was living in Sherman Oaks, California. The title is taken from a William Burroughs book."

6 FEET UNDER ACME
"A guitar solo extract from Zappa's 'Chunga's Revenge' performed live at the Under Acme." (New York City, March 1996)

EUPHORIA (TV Mania)
"This a an early work in progress mix by Anthony Resta. The final version is quite different. The vocals are by Madeline Farley."

WHAT A WAY TO GO (Warren Cuccurullo with vocalist Sally Boyden)
"It is still in its purest form, but this version might just be, in the live show, a beautiful bang gang moment."

Still unreleased but somewhat discussed

Beautiful Clothes (TV Mania)
From Privacy Issue 14 (Nov/Dec 1995): "According to Ellen Cuccurullo, there is another song called "Fashion Souffle" in which there is sampled bits from a British fashion TV show, with Warren doing falsetto vocals. Since getting this information in early November, I now have, also from Ellen Cuccurullo, a new title for this song, "Beautiful, Beautiful Clothes."
